Kandla in Gujarat is a seaport in Kutch District of western India which has the distinction of being the first special economic zone set up in India and Asia. It is about 90km away from the Gulf of  Kutch. Established in 1965, Kandla has become the largest multiple-product SEZ in the country.  However the credit for identifying this site goes to the British Royal Navy who first appraised Kandla for its suitability as a port.

Now, the Port of Kandla has expanded greatly in the field of oil import and grain export and is one of India’s highest earning ports.
